It was all that we hoped for!
The holidays are over and we’re happy to welcome in the New Year. Now, it’s time to get to work. We took a much needed break from writing over the past few weeks. This was the first time we’ve given ourselves permission to not work on our writing. This was different from past creative dry spells, in that, by allowing ourselves the break, we eliminated the “You should be writing,” guilt. We are feeing refreshed and ready to work.
We started off 2017 with a meeting to lay out our writing goals (and food and bullsh#@@ing, always the bullsh#@@ing). Our three current projects are:
- The Ocular, paranormal horror, is 3/4 complete, and sitting at just over 70,000 words.
- Enoch, a contemporary crime thriller, is 1/3 complete, and sitting at 34,000 words.
- Hunters of Gaia, the sequel to our science fiction novel Exiles of Gaia, is complete and in the editing process.
Nancy and Eric will be meeting to flesh out the final chapters of The Ocular that Nancy is writing. Eric is also working on fine-tuning Hunters. Anne is forcing herself to read Enoch from the beginning. She realizes that so much time has passed that the plot is becoming disjointed. She’s hoping that by re-familiarizing herself with the story, that hopefully she can fix the issues.
We also held a giveaway of The Safe Harbor and our short stories as well as discounting all the remaining books over the Christmas holidays. We were happy with the results and will plan another when we finally get one of the ongoing projects put to bed. Finally, we will be looking into porting our hard copy books over from Createspace to the Kindle. Kindle has a new program to print hard copy and it looks like it could simplify things on our end as well as give us a few more advertising options. We’ll keep you posted as we get more information.
Best wishes in the New Year!
Anne, Nancy and Eric
