As we head into the latter part of July, all three of us have revamped our working conditions in order to increase the time we put into our writing and cut down on distractions. And what works for one, does not necessarily work for the others.
Anne has begun to leave the house to write. With her newly-retired husband at home full time and her boys on summer break, the interruptions were frequent. Nancy however, needs a sounding board and the accountability that a writing partner brings. Our two different problems brought us to our new mutual solution. Anne comes over most days to write with Nancy in her nice quiet office. It’s working out great so far.
Eric’s Achilles heel is the rabbit hole of the internet and family distractions. He is still working on his solution but so far, he has an agreement with his family that no one can be on electronic devices for the first half of the day. Just that one small change has helped immensely. He’ll also be attempting to squeeze some writing in during his lunch hour.
Now, if we can just conquer the added allure of summer weather, we’ll get butts in chairs and write.
The Rose Sprite, our short story, is with our beta reader. Eric is doing a final edit on Hunters of Gaia, Nancy is working on the Ocular, and Anne is writing new material for Enoch.
Thanks for sticking with us!
