This past year has been challenging on multiple fronts, both personal and professional. As a result, our writing and book promotions took a sharp drop. You would expect, as we did, a complete drop in sales and Kindle Unlimited pages read, however against all expectations, that has not been the case. We still make sales. Granted, not a lot, but enough to keep us motivated.
The weird part of all this, almost all of our KU pages read and books sold have been on Amazon UK. The majority of our reviews have also been on Amazon UK. We haven’t yet cracked the code on why we do better overseas. Perhaps they have a different literary taste than Americans? Or maybe their pool of literary offerings is smaller? Or the Amazon algorithms are run differently over there. We don’t think we’ll ever know but we are just grateful for the support.
And if Amazon would allow our UK reviews to show up on Amazon US page, that would be immensely helpful. Reviews can make or break and author, especially here in the US. We’re looking at you Amazon!
This week, we will continue to rework and refine our draft of Hunters of Gaia. We just finished chapter 46 of the Ocular and chapter 6 of Servants of Gaia. Add in taxes in the next few weeks and we’ve got a full plate.
Happy Spring, Everyone!
