It’s time to get serious about marketing. We saw a lot of great promotional tools on display from our fellow authors at the Northwest Book Festival (and some not so great). As for our strategies, here’s what we learned ~
We were happy with our bookmark giveaway but the lollipops were questionable as they only seem to attract children and old men who claim they don’t read. Not really our target audience…

And our teaser questions we posted, such as, “Have you ever had a brush with the supernatural?” worked in luring in those interested in the paranormal and also several people claiming to be possessed.
As for online promotions, we were really pleased with our last Kindle Countdown Deal on Creek House. To that end, we’re kicking off the month of August with a double promotion, a three day giveaway of our horror short story, The Mortuary Fly, and a simultaneous Kindle Countdown Deal on our novel Cold Prairie. Both promotions will run Sunday, August 2nd through Tuesday, August 4th. Hopefully, that will jumpstart another round of Kindle Unlimited/Kindle Lending Library downloads and sales of the other books.
This coming week, we’ll be contacting our guest authors to get started on the interviews. Anne is working on the sequel to Exiles of Gaia and Nancy is working on the Ocular. Eric is doing double duty as co-writer on both books, while he finishes training for his new job. He expects to be back at full capacity on September 1st.
