Keeping up with the Workload

Blog Pic 18 DEC

We’ve written previously about the intricacies of self-publishing and the time-suck that is marketing. It never ends. We just concluded a very productive Skype meeting on Sunday evening that showed us we still have a lot of work to do. One of the tasks we determined was to establish a master to-do list accessible to each of us.

There is the day-to-day tending of our social media garden, tweeting, Facebook postings and of course, this blog. Those tasks have been somewhat neglected lately, in the final push before the summer. The writing continues, some of us are far more productive than others lately. At over 82,000 words, we’re getting close to completion of the first draft of Holly Virginia.

Our main topic of discussion was our first public appearance as authors coming up in July and finding new ways to market the books and garner reviews. We’ve been hesitant to jump into the blog tours but we realize that we won’t be able to avoid them indefinitely. We are also still trying to keep our marketing costs to a minimum and that limits our choices when it comes to self-marketing. We’ve finally settled on a plan to run a Goodreads giveaway.

Both of these options, while excellent and cost effective, require us to learn the ropes, again. We’ll need to figure out how to provide both print and e-book copies of our books to bloggers. We’ll also need to learn how to run a Goodreads giveaway. Add to that, we will be installing a contact form on the blog which we hope will help our readers stay in touch.

The to-do list keeps growing along with our readers and our word count. These are all good things.

Kind regards,
Anne, Nancy and Eric
