It’s been a whirlwind of week, with strange happenings and forward progress. We started the week, with our Mom Nancy on vacation and Eric and Anne holding down their home fronts in Oregon and Namibia while our free promotional giveaway of Exiles of Gaia wrapped up. We ended the week battling a malware site using Cold Prairie to lure unsuspecting people into downloading malicious software.
The promotion went well, with over several hundred downloads of Exiles. We’re hoping we’ll get a few reviews out of it. Exiles of Gaia doesn’t have as much net exposure as our Renna Olsen books. We haven’t tried too hard to remedy that yet but we’ll put more emphasis on it once we get the second book in the series finished, hopefully in June.
We’ve seen a jump in sales on Creek House, with most of the books selling in Great Britain. We’re grateful that readers out there in the world are taking a chance on us. Hopefully, it’s not an isolated increase and we’ll continue the trend.
Anne does most of the marketing. As part of that duty, she occasionally runs search engines on our books and pen names in order to get a gauge of our net presence. That led her to a Youtube video with a cover of Cold Prairie touting, “Free PDF download. Click here!” which in turn led to a website advertising free downloads of books, software and apps. A little research reveals that this is a malware site that has been operating for several years. Long story short, we contacted Youtube and they removed the video but tracking the site is proving to be difficult. We’re not done fighting yet but since it is registered to someone named Jimmy Fly from Moscow, Russia, I don’t know if we’ll ever be able to track it down.
Nancy had a great vacation and didn’t neglect her Litzo duties. She travelled a route that we will be using in our New Mother Earth series and took pictures and visited several points of interest so that we can make sure that we give an accurate portrayal of our planned scenes. It’s gonna be good!
It’s time for us to get back to writing full time. We’ve been producing new material but it’s been at a much slower pace for the last few weeks. This week, we hope to get back to our normal operating pace. We’re also looking forward to our May giveaway. This next month, we’ll be running a free promotion on The Safe Harbor. Stay tuned for the dates.
For those of you following along, we appreciate your support!
