“It’s a learning process.” A good motto to write by, we think. And this week, we learned that running a promotion for a free horror novel during Valentine’s weekend is not a good idea. It wasn’t a total bust but didn’t do nearly as well as our other promotions. Now, perhaps if we’d written a romance or thrown in a box of chocolates, we really would have cleaned up. But love was in the air and not the love of a good old fashioned haunted hotel story.
We are getting a few reviews trickling in as a result of the give-away and that’s a win in our books. All have been good and a few have been positively glowing. Perhaps we’re in the right business after all?
As for the way forward, we’re still cleaning up Cold Prairie. We let Eric have first crack at a final read-through and then when he’s done with his hack-and-slash, he’ll pass it on to the rest of us. We’ve also been writing on the second Gaia novel. We’ve set a goal to be ready to publish by June. That means we have to write it at a blistering pace (and by blistering, I mean much faster than your average garden snail).
We’ll keep you posted. And as always, we appreciate your support.
